Season of Creation 2024

Season of Creation has finished for the year. However, we had such fun with this page that we intend continuing it throughout the year. It reminds us both to appreciate creation more and to do more to protect it.
We will continue to update this page with pictures from members of the congregation, as well as updates on important activities as well as resources.
Prayer

Apprehend God in all things,
for God is in all things.
Every single creature is full of God,
and is a book about God.
Every creature is a word of God.
If I spent enough time with the tiniest
creature— even a caterpillar—
I would never have to prepare a sermon,
so full of God is every creature.
A Reading attributed to Meister Eckhart (1260-1328)
Appreciation
During September we will be asking members of Woden Valley UC and their friends and family to share photos that they have taken that reflect the beauty and wonder of creation. They will be shown here on this page and throughout the website.

Action
This year consider becoming more actively involved in protecting the planet.
Uniting Climate at COP29
The Moderator of Uniting Church Synod of NSW.ACT, Rev. Faaimata Hilau and the Uniting team have been on the ground at the United Nations Climate negotiations in Baku, Azerbaijan, advocating for stronger climate action on the world stage.
The team joined in the Global March for Climate Justice and participated in the launch of the Renewable Energy Council Asia-Pacific. The Moderator joined an interfaith panel hosted by the World Council of Churches to discuss the role of faith organisations in addressing the climate crisis, and was a spokesperson for the launch of the Community Sector Statement on 2035 Climate Change Pollution Reduction Target.
As the end of the climate negotiations draws near, there are still live questions. Will the world leaders be able to negotiate a new climate finance target that is ambitious enough to assist developing countries adapt to climate impacts and transition towards clean energy? Will Australia be co-hosting COP31 with the Pacific?
Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC)

ARRCC is a multi-faith network taking action on the most pressing issue of our time. We guard our independence so that we can remain uncompromising in our stand for what is right.

Even little actions help

Don't forget that you can recycle medicine blister packs and plastic bottle lids via the kitchen at Curtin Church.
