Worship Service Resources

2026: Year of Transition
Help needed for Worship Team!
As we move into a year when we do not yet have a Minister, congregation members are responsible for providing 100% of the services. As there is currently only a small number of people currently trying to cover all the empty places in the roster, they are currently stretched beyond capacity to try to cover all the services.
So we are asking for your help. We would love to have some more people to contribute to our services over the next 3-6 months at least.
For anyone that has decided to lead a service, but who might not have done it before, we're working on collecting resources to help you plan and run services - see below for what is currently listed!

WVUC's Services template and Guide
Below are the links to the files to aid preparation of services at Woden Valley Uniting Church. There are additional hard copy resources are available in the church library.

The Fig Tree Worship Resource
The Friends of the Fig Tree are a group of leaders in the Uniting Church committed to resourcing all sizes and capabilities of worship groups.
Benedictus
Benedictus follows the liturgical seasons of the Christian calendar. In choosing readings and themes for reflection each week, we sometimes follow the pattern set by the Revised Common Lectionary and sometimes develop a series on a particular theme.

Our Library |
We have an extensive library - some 400 titles - of books available for loan, located in the Brindabella Room. As it incorporates the library of the former Centre for Progressive Religious Thought, the library overall has a large number of books by writers offering different perspectives.
You can browse the following catalogues:

St James and South Woden merged to form Woden Valley UC back in 2022. The work of creating a single library catalogue is currently ongoing. You can come and browse - and borrow - on Friday mornings when Coffee 'n' Chat is on, or after the morning service on Sunday.
For other times, contact office.wvuc@gmail.com to find out if the premises are open and the library able to be accessed at the time you wish to drop in.
